NEW YORK (CNN) -- Ruslana Korshunova, the 20-year-old supermodel whose face graced the cover of Vogue, committed suicide on Saturday when she fell from her ninth floor apartment in New York's financial district, according to the medical examiner's office.
The cause of death was blunt impact injuries, the office said.
British Vogue had hailed the Kazakhstan native as "a face to be excited about" in 2005, according to The Associated Press.
Korshunova appeared in advertisements and on runways for such designers as Marc Jacobs, Nina Ricci and DKNY, AP reported.

Her break came when modeling booker Debbie Jones noticed her while perusing an in-flight magazine article about Korshunova's hometown of Almaty, AP cited the Vogue report as saying.
"She looked like something out of a fairytale!" Jones told the magazine, according to AP. "We had to find her and we searched high and low until we did!"
