Ted Kennedy endorsed Barack Obama last January.

(CNN) – Add Obama supporter Sen. Ted Kennedy to the list of joint-ticket naysayers.

In an interview airing this weekend, the Massachusetts senator told Bloomberg’s Al Hunt that despite widespread talk of a ticket featuring both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, "I don't think it's possible."

He added that “…I would hope that he would also give consideration to somebody that has — is in tune with his appeal for the nobler aspirations of the American people. And I think if we had real leadership — as we do with Barack Obama — in the number-two spot as well, it'd be enormously helpful.”

Kennedy also said that he had not spoken with former President Bill Clinton since endorsing Barack Obama.

Jim Webb for VP! He would make an awesome VP choice.

Tim in Iowa   May 9th, 2008 5:46 pm ET

I would like to ask the Obama supporters why there is so much bitterness in these blogs? You would think that he was the one that was behind in the race. What we are witness to is what politics is all about. It is not for the weak of heart, it is a full contact sport. Agree or disagree. that is our right . But we do not have a right to tear any of the candidates down with personal attacks, and the stands for McCain, Hillary and Obama.
A Irish Catholic, white, male, Or should it not be an American of Irish heritage who is Catholic and male. Until we figure it out we will forever be divided………..

Linda   May 9th, 2008 5:31 pm ET

Hillary Clinton has a strong 49% of the vote. Without her on the ticket, I seriously doubt Barack Obama will win the states he needs. It is Democratic political suicide to discount her strength. There are just too many people willing to jump to McCain without her on the ticket. This race between them is almost 50-50. If her people had put time and energy into organizing in the caucus states, she would be the leader right now.

Many people say she is "old politics." Like the old politics that fought for and won Roe v. Wade for us and so many other democratic policies that benefit us today? If he loses the race against McCain, and Roe v. Wade becomes history, maybe many of these young people will understand why so many people are grateful to her generation.

kennedy is nothing like his brothers, and never will b. he is a trader and i have no repect 4 the man, did he not cheat on his wife 2. and people have the nerve 2 talk about bill. please…..come nov. i will write hillary name in and that's what all those hillary supporters should do 2. kennedy is a disgrace.

Kennedy   May 9th, 2008 5:25 pm ET

Now why would Obama want an "Old Politician" like Kennedy. Out with the old - in with the new right. Not that anyone cares who Obama picks in the first place. But just for argument sake, Kennedy DID pave the way for Obama in a huge way I might add - so Obama owes him. Now that sounds like the old politics right?

Hillary supporters - do listen to any junk about uniting the party - or if you don't vote for Obama blood from Iraq will be on your hands, and all the other intimidating things his supporters will try to lay on you. They are full of hot air - Obama will be in four years and Iraq will still be going on - he cannot do anything any quicker than anyone else.

NO OBAMA

how inspiring. i wonder how many obama supporters are going to push me towards voting for mccain today.

Obama does not stand a chance in the general. Hillary does. If the Dems want to win, O Boy is not the candidate. It will be like handing the election to the Republicans.

Vojtech Bystricky, Esq.   May 9th, 2008 5:19 pm ET

Is Ted Kennedy out to preempt another Democratic victory in the general election?

Matt Hardeman   May 9th, 2008 5:16 pm ET

I LOVE how all these americans who've never left the country talk about what we abroad want in a US president.

how about a democrat who's electable? that'd be nice for once.

pathetic.

tar   May 9th, 2008 5:13 pm ET

The damage that Sen. Clinton has done to the Democratic Party will definitely make her a deficit to any ticket. Sen. Clinton has alienated a great many voters with her dirty politics and negative campaign.

Sen. Obama can not afford to have Sen. Clinton as his VP because she can not be trusted to do the right thing. She is totally dangerous, vicious, unethical, nasty, and most of all selfish. If it is not her way, then you better watch your back, front, and sides.

I think she is totally psycho now.

It will be Kennedy and Johnson over again.

Matt   May 9th, 2008 5:13 pm ET

Hillary should run as an Independent.

Matt Hardeman   May 9th, 2008 5:13 pm ET

I agree with Ted Kennedy. I WOULD NOT TRUST those Clintons as there would certainly be TWO of them, AGAINST Obama. Leave them where they are … away from the White House!

Do not even think of offering her the VP!

Who let this gas bag out of his oldsmobile?

Anne Marie nyc   May 9th, 2008 5:11 pm ET

Why should those of us that support Hillary's competence consider voting for Obama? Maybe WE actually learned the lesson of Bush - the perils of electing an unqualified, inexperienced, unknown candidate. Maybe after McCain is elected and we lose Roe v Wade, we will all finally wake-up and appreciate the true value of a women leader as committed to women and human rights as Hillary has been her whole life! IF not NOW then THEN - Go Hillary!!!
As a former worker for Ted Kennedy in 1980 - his credibility is shot - the only reason he supports Obama is so he can be his "Cheney" THAT's the real reason he doesnt want any Clinton around - so patently self-serving!

David   May 9th, 2008 5:10 pm ET

One thing these comments prove is Obama supporters are very odd. The Clinton's didn't even start the Reverend Wright thing, but that won't stop the Obama nuts from pretending she did, and shamelessly calling her a race-baiter because she did, though she didn't start that discussion. Wright blames white people for "inventing the HIV virus as a means of genocide against people of color," not to mention that the terrorists who attacked us on 9/11 represent the WWII Japanese getting their comeuppance against us for the nukes of 1944… But if anyone mentions that Obama is incredibly close to this guy and his "liberation theology"/communist church, those people are race baiters. Well, people don't need to mention race with Obama, they can just call him a beyond the pale liberation theology left-wing, commie nut, and if the Republicans do this with any vigor, I don't see why they can't succeed. Has nothing to do with skin color, but the Obama camp of course will keep whining that it does and playing the race card at the strangest times. Worse than Jesse Jackson, that campaign appears…

Obama / Clinton 08!!!!   May 9th, 2008 5:07 pm ET

I dunno Obama / Clinton would be pretty much a lead pipe cinche to win. And there is alot to be said for winning. And even more to be said for not loosing!

sad   May 9th, 2008 5:06 pm ET

Ted Kennedy represents the most liberal aspect of our party. If our party splits between liberals and moderates, I hope he is prepared to accept the responsibility. Hillary Clinton is extremely respected and popular why would he argue such a position? This is just dead wrong. She earned the VP slot and the party will be much more enthusiastic if they are both on the ticket.

Matt Hardeman   May 9th, 2008 5:04 pm ET

If obama loses this election to mccain, which he almost certainly will, i wont blame obama. i blame the opportunists who ignored the logic and went with the flow.

and obviously, the 90-percent-racists and kool-aid drinkers who voted for him.

Joe - Wilmington, DE   May 9th, 2008 5:04 pm ET

I could not agree more.

Leslie in Maryland   May 9th, 2008 5:03 pm ET

I say UP YOURS Ted Kennedy. I can't wait to dump the democratic party and vote for McCain.

The DNC male dominated leadership has completely run-over Hillary Clinton. I will never support this party again.

As a lifelong democrat and one that has donated to both Kennedy and Kerry in the past - I'm done.

These chauvenist pigs can have their precious Obama.

I'm moving on to McCain and the Republicans.

marcosi   May 9th, 2008 5:02 pm ET

I am all for Obama to win. He has more baggage than Hillary. The Republicans will have a field day in attacking him.

For the Hillary supporters, you can make your voice heard by voting for McCain. After being robbed of the nomination by not counting votes in Michigan and Florida, you have every right to retaliate against the Obama ticket. Show your loyalty to Hillary. Strike Obama down.

Hip, hip, hooray for Obama!!!!

Tea Nui   May 9th, 2008 4:58 pm ET

Just a thought:

Hillary age 62 backs down and feigns support for Obama.
Clinton supporters back McCain.
Obama loses against John McCain.
McCain President.
People will grow tired from the Republicans in 2012.
Obama will be relegated to the likes of Dukakis.
Clinton becomes President at a respectable age of 66.

eugene   May 9th, 2008 4:58 pm ET

Obama and Clinton would make a great ticket. A team we could be proud of with two great candidates.

Matt Hardeman   May 9th, 2008 4:56 pm ET

If obama doesnt offer clinton the VP slot i will be FURIOUS

why should i vote for a man who talks and talks and talks about 'uniting' people when he's not even willing to reach out so far as to offer clinton the VP slot?

it will be his single act of hypocrisy yet. I'm a lifelong democrat. But at least McCain's showed more respect to Clinton than the obamacists… I WILL vote for mccain if obama messes this up. So will millions like me. He's hard enough to get elected as it is, without infuriating every last person who voted for clinton.

You've been warned, Obama people.

NObama   May 9th, 2008 4:56 pm ET

Its so disenchanting how negative and mean-spirited the Obama - fans are on CNN posts.

Don't you think you will need the Clinton supporters vote IF Obama gets the nod?

Numbers are increasingly showing the WE CLINTON SUPPORTERS will in large margin either not vote or vote for McCain.

Blind-eyed Obamabots are the reason for the racial divides in this contest.

Does anyone actually think Obama can beat McCain? More than college kids and African Americans would have to vote than already did.

Dani   May 9th, 2008 4:55 pm ET

Why did Kennedy have to say "no" anyway? Is this another instance where Obama has somebody fight his battles like he did when he had T-shirts made for his supporters denouncing Clinton? He really is weak. Why could he be commander-in-chief enough to say "no" himself?

meggy   May 9th, 2008 4:55 pm ET

no wonder that no kennedy clan will be ever make it to the top because of your action ted…you are a shame to jhons legacy.

Dani   May 9th, 2008 4:54 pm ET

Of course it isn't possible…forget about what might be best for the country, Obama is incapable of having a joint ticket because he is really too arrogant to work with someone who really might make a difference.

PHYLON   May 9th, 2008 4:53 pm ET

The man is right. The BUSH-CLINTON-BUSH-??CLINTON equation would make American democracy a sham. Pliz give others a chance. Some people are complianing about Obama supporters; they should realise that OBAMA SUPPOTERS ARE WILLING TO SWITCH AND SUPPORT HILLARY IF SHE IS NOMINATED WHEREAS HER SUPPORTERS ARE NOT WILLING TO SWITCH!!!! What does this say about her suppoters? One word=RACISM. I love people but black people more because they simply don't have racism.

Ilona Proud Canadian   May 9th, 2008 4:52 pm ET

To all Sen. Obama supporters,

The latest about Sen. McCain.

He and his party have the right to bash Sen. Obama, with his disgusting Ad. "Hamas Endorses Sen Obama" Yes, it is okay for McCain to deliberately make these statements, and attack Sen. Obama for what Hamas says. (it seems that Sen Obama is going to be critized for what everyone else says about him).

In response to this disgusting ad, Sen. Obama says he thinks Sen. McCain "is losing his Bearings"…. Now the Rep. are up in arms. This is Leiberman's remarks, speaking now with Wolf Blitzer. "You can say that you don't agree with what someone says but to say that they are losing there bearings is not right" Is this some kind of double standard?????

Stop whining McCain, Lieberman, and all of your supporters, if you expect to attack Sen. Obama, for what everyone says about him, then you had better be prepared for some payback! There is a lot more to come! (If someone should say this about you I am sure that you would use much stronger words than this).

Alberto   May 9th, 2008 4:52 pm ET

I think we need a great VP like J. Edwards, even though he has not endorsed - We should run as fast as we can from Hillary and most importantly from BILL "talk too much" CLINTON.

Juan from L.A.   May 9th, 2008 4:51 pm ET

it seem barack has nothing to say the others will decide for him.the think about barack he say he want to change the white house only stupid people and young people can belived this crap because theyhave no idea about polictics they are so naive.it is always like that obama do not have no substance or ground to stand on so he is pointing at bush and all the mistakes and of course the bad people who works in the white house and who build up amercia.it is so sad and painful that people fall for this fake guy . his pastor is right obama is just playing the same old polictics games and end of the day he will not do nothing.it is not so simple like he is saying. you just can not change things like that you must be stupid to belived him. sad amercia, they will never learn………..

DJ, LA, CA   May 9th, 2008 4:51 pm ET

Yes Obama needs a like-minded uniter and not from the "old school" politics of division and blaming the other party for problems.

He should try to recruit a moderate disenfranchised Republican that wants to defect to the Democrats, or pick a social conservative Democrat from a Red state - preferably heartland or the south. (BESIDES Edwards)

Look whose talking about noblier aspirations. Ted Kennedy the one who has disgraced the Kennedy name. . No wonder you like Obama. Hillary Clinton has fought for what she believed since she came onto the scene. Barak Obama pales in comparison to her. Too bad you didn't think of your brother Bobby and that is who Hillary is like.

US citizens can look forward to the footnote of a bi-racial president that dug George Bush's economic hole to engulf the entire eastern hemisphere of the world.

OBAMACANS, can you withstand the tax burden to support the entitlement programs in the USA and the continent of Africa?

Gail   May 9th, 2008 4:49 pm ET

Sen. Kennedy brings to mind the Alexander Pope poem saying that hell has no fury like a woman scorned. To paraphrase, politics has not fury like a Kennedy being upset over a comment made by a Clinton supporter. I used to regard Sen Kennedy as a man who had redeemed himself from his many issues including the harm he did to the party in 1980 but he has now become once more a person who does not deserve praise.
He is petty and should understand he really is the old politics.
he should bow out now

Dear Manuel in TX,

To each it own but, this is the same game issue that Clinton has and still is doing in West Virginia or should I say through out her campaign from state to state.

Is this not a race card gimmick ? her stating that a majority of white uneducated, older and working voters are the main voters that will make her the best candidate for the opponent McCainn, sounds like a race issue to me.

Let’s not forget the news also list these race issues.

Obama 08

When Tedd Kennedy was running for the President in 1980 against Jimmy Carter, they had so much animosity that he didnt even shook his hands with President Carter at the Deomcratic Convention. I think that before bashing Hillary Clinton for trying to ruin Obama, he should look at his past also. After his Tussle with President Carter, the Democrates lost the 1980 General Election. Atleast Hilary is still winning against Obama and even though he is the presumptive nominee, she is still ahead in polls in some of the remaining contests. She is in a more dignified position that Tedd when he was running against President Carter.

In 4 years, after Obama tries and fails to push through pipe dreams of policy in domestic affairs and sells off our national security interests to satisfy international opinion, even the most die hard Obama supporters today will be saying, "i wish i had voted differently in 08…."

A good public presentation and an effective media spin machine does not make good leadership.

I agree. After saying that White America would not vote for Obama as if we are back in the 50's and 60's, I would not want her on my ticket. Her elitist comments are coming to light. She also made it seem like White voters who don't have a college education are the only ones voting for her because she will help them. Lets see if she did make it to the White House if they could get a job. Thats when the real Hillary would come out and only the people that donated money to Bills donors list have a say. Kennedy is right, Hillary should turn down the VP and teddy should get it. The two most liberal senators in the Congress. What about the Kennedy/McCain bill, does that prove that McCain can cross party lines and be a unifier. Or id McCain/Fiengold prove that? I'm feeling better and better about my decision to leave the dem party and vote for McCain. Thank you, Ted Kennedy.

Joe Regis   May 9th, 2008 4:18 pm ET

A joint ticket is not really as desirable as people think.

two opponents digging dirt on each other and all of a sudden everithing is all right. tough to swallow.

Winner take all and looser go home.

Tania   May 9th, 2008 4:17 pm ET

Well , as I have said before , Obama will be guided by the old guard , so much for change.
Obama doesn't have an original thought of his own , he is too liberal and too inexperienced.

Jim   May 9th, 2008 4:16 pm ET

I feel sorry for ted, his time has pasted, and the good boys is going down. Hillary is fixing to clean house.

Nobler aspirations of the American people???? Ted means nobler aspirations of OUR POLITICIANS TURNING THIS COUNTRY INTO A NANNY STATE. Go home Mr. Kennedy please, you are a disgrace to those that want to keep our liberties, freedoms and Nation's sovereignty in tact!!!!

Caroline…. Stay in Canada. Good Socialist Country. Enjoy your Medical care.

Fortunately Americans get to vote not foreign countries. The next time Europe is invaded we should all stay home. Also, Canada needs to pay for it's own defense., instead of relying on my tax dollars for their defense.

John-Douglas   May 9th, 2008 4:09 pm ET

Both candidates have groveled over there undying support of Israel . The whole middle east quagmire is as a result of the U.S. policy in backing the most unbending nation in the world . The treatment of the Palestinian Arabs has been nothing short of being disgraceful . As jimmy Carter replied on Larry King live ,when asked why more politician don't support his thinking in settling the Israel ,Palestinian conflict ,his simple reply was"because they would never get elected" . Can you imagine the U.S. putting up with Canada arbitrarily putting up 200 developments in the North West of thee U.S. ,grabbing the land without payment and declaring those area's under Canadian jurisdction.,and expecting a peaceful solution ,

Chief lagosboy, NJ   May 9th, 2008 4:08 pm ET

Ted, you are so right and I thank you for your honesty. You sir, are truly a great American! Hillary, is a disappointment and a disgrace to this great country. Obama, we need change! Please do not nominate her as your VP, she is no good, she is a Bigot and a Race Baiter. ”Dream Team” more like “Dumb Team”. Obama, please get a Food Taster in case you make the silly mistake and she becomes your VP, a word to the wise.
Congratulation Obama, we are almost home!

Our President Obama 08’ & 12’

Sounds like he is prepping himself for the position. Surely, they will take a divided democratic party to become the biggest loser. Sounds good to me. Another 100 years of war, a bankrupt nation.

Cathy   May 9th, 2008 4:06 pm ET

OMG Ted Kennedy knows best..give me a break.. He and Kerry just want to control Barack. I will be sitting home during the general election. So tired of the hate towards the Clintons. It's interesting, Barack talks of taking a higher road, while his campaign people and his supporters mouth hate. Sorry, but i never heard him speak out about this treatment against Hillary. Being a democrat all my life, this election really disturbs me. The caucus primaries are a joke, so unamerican. Most people had to work. If the party doesn't change this stupid process in the future, I will become an independent.

Beth in PA   May 9th, 2008 4:05 pm ET

Much as I'd love Senator Clinton to get the vice-presidency with nearly half of voting democrats supporting her, I think there's too much bad blood between the two. They wouldn't be able to cooperate effectively and convincingly as a team.
I'm hoping Obama will choose Katherine Sebelius. She's governor of a red state, and she'll please Hillary's female constituency as well as some of the "bitter" small town voters Obama has pissed off.

charles   May 9th, 2008 4:05 pm ET

Mr Kennedy is sooo right like all others who see Sen. Clinton as bringing so much negativity into the race that it would now be impossible to amend. There is virtually too much water under the bridge. It would be a contradiction. After all, Obama was not good enough for president and possibly not even VP. How can you pick the same viper as VP. Philadelphia will never be forgotten.

ruby   May 9th, 2008 4:02 pm ET

I still think Ted Kennedy is a sexist. Unfortunately he will lose a lot of people's respect. And who is he to talk. I heard/read about how he reacted when he ran for president…..

AC 360   May 9th, 2008 4:02 pm ET

Yeah this is just the begining of the problem. Hillary well for the divisiveness. I pray the Domocrats find a common ground.

Terrence (Winston Salem,NC)   May 9th, 2008 4:02 pm ET

Hillary is done. I doubt that she will be back in 2012, especially if Barack loses. Her actions have burnt her in the eyes of the American people. She has become such a whiner that many will cringe if her name is mentioned in nomination of another office. The very thing that makes her admirable (being a fighter) is the very thing that did her in. She doesn't know when to concede. She's the type to go out kicking and screaming - not very presidential.

Also, let's face it, most of her base is older people. She may lose a few backers as younger people become able to vote in 2012.

I am not a Clinton basher (at least my tone on her has softened) but I think her actions now have to be seen (even by her supporters) as a little silly now.

Tejano   May 9th, 2008 4:01 pm ET

Again you fail to post my positive comments on Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Stop the Bias.

Hillary cannot and will not take second position to the Racial Candidate, Barak Hussein Obama.

She has done the Nation a favor in exposing him for what he really represents. And for that we are grateful.

Had the information on Rev. Wright been brought forward early in the primary season, before New Hampshire, She would be the only candidate available to the Democrarts.

There is no way that Obama can carry the Democratic party to victory in November without the Hillary Democrats. The majority of the vote will go to McCain.

Hispanics are already moving to the Republican column and this will accelerate the exodus. About time too.

oliver   May 9th, 2008 4:01 pm ET

No Hillary! Period!

Steve   May 9th, 2008 4:01 pm ET

I do not see Obama and Hillary on the same ticket period. He will be looing over his shoulder at Bill for the next four years! Secondly, being VP will dampen here opportunity to head a ticket in 2012. I don't think she will go for it! Besides he needs somone with executive experience and knows how to run a budget . He needs a Governor as his running mate (Richardson)???

John   May 9th, 2008 4:01 pm ET

You know what, i can't stand the unfair treatments against Hillary. Obama can get the nomination the dirty way he wants with the help of the press. However, everyone from my family and I will not vote for him in the general election. We will instead vote republician. I believe many hillary supporters would do the same. I really want to see how Obama can win when half of Hillary's support vote republician. I guess at the end, justice will serve.

frank   May 9th, 2008 4:00 pm ET

I like Hillary and have contributed to defeating Bush in the last two elections. However, if Obama wins the nomination, the party's left wing's (Ted's) Hillary bashing will just encourage me and other more moderate Democrats to sit on our hands election-time.

American Girl   May 9th, 2008 4:00 pm ET

I agree. I think that HIllary and Bill will undermind Barack all the way. Besides, she will bargin to pay off her debt adn tell white voters he did not want her. That way she can campaign against him and run in 2012.

I think he shoudl offer her
1. A Supreme Court Justice position
2. A Cabinet Position
3. A cup of Coffee and A ride back to NY

Venus The Super star   May 9th, 2008 3:58 pm ET

If there is not a joint ticket, he will not be able to win the general election. This guy is inexperienced enough as it is, come on!!! what are you people thinking? Your trying to put someone who has only been in the senate for 3.5 years. Is this a JOKE ? My guess obama has already promised someone else the VP seat, so now he's trying to distract people from thinking about a joint ticket with Hillary. Let's face it, the General election is Already over.

VoteforAmerica   May 9th, 2008 3:57 pm ET

Ted…you have a pal who is even more left to you. Thanks for endorsement. This is the endorsement that will turn off the moderates and independents.

Sheryl   May 9th, 2008 3:57 pm ET

I was a registered Independent for 38 years. I switched to the Democratic party this year, but after all the Democratic whining about wanting Sen. Clinton to drop out of the campaign, I'll be registering as an Independent again. There has been a record turn out of voters from all states, yet the Democrats don't want to let all the voters voices to be heard. This will disenfranchise many voters. I will be voting this November by writing in Sen. Clinton's name. I hope other Clinton Supporters will join me as I will not vote for John McCain or Barack Obama

vicki   May 9th, 2008 3:55 pm ET

Its 2010…., The president of the USA - Barack already brought our troops from Iraq, he improved our economy, he increased our life standard and Clinton is still compaining and still making case to DNC that she is more electable.

Terry H   May 9th, 2008 3:55 pm ET

Kennedy should have been in jail years ago. Why does the media even give him a platform? Even Kennedy doesn't have enough money to buy the presidency for Obama. mark my words, Obama WILL NOT win the general election. There is a vast democratic network preparing to unsurp any chance he thinks he has. Just say NO to OBAMA!

Dan, MA   May 9th, 2008 3:54 pm ET

Cheers, Ted, for making the right call. Obama's the right person for the position, like I've been saying since last year. People like "silence do good" think that the state of MA is still pro-Clinton. But most of the state has changed their minds about her. After all the crap she's slung, I bet a lot of you people regret voting for her. I for one, will vote for Obama again in November because I don't want to lose the quality of health care we have now, watch the economy fall apart, or see my country embroiled in any more war.

Why would Sen. Hillary even remotely consider being on Obama 's ticket when she has no respect for him? According the Sen. Hillary , Obama only brings his speeches from 2002 and nothing more. I think she is more in line with John McCain becuase they both have many years of washington experience, and they have the support of the WHITE HARD WORKING BLUE COLLAR AMERICANS.

Tammy - KCMO   May 9th, 2008 3:52 pm ET

Thank you Mr. Kennedy for stating something I think most people are thinking. There are other capable women that could run as VP with Obama.

Kathleen Sebelius would be an excellent choice and one I think the majority of people would agree with.

Yvonne   May 9th, 2008 3:52 pm ET

Margaret (3:19 pm ET), common sense tells me that it is NOT ideal for Obama to say hell no to an Obama-Clinton ticket right now. The media would be all over him! It's best for Obama's surrogants to speak "unofficially" for the campaign. All politicians, including Clinton, do the same thing. No surprises. Just smart.

Josie WA   May 9th, 2008 3:52 pm ET

Hillary would distract from a message of new politics. She continues to campaign in a way that is negitive to the party. NO HILLARY 2008/2012.

He and Pelosi and everyone who is silently talking are right,

pam Eugene OR   May 9th, 2008 3:49 pm ET

I must agree with 50 year old white ladies. I think Hillary has hurt the chances for future women to take a run at the White House. It is time for a female president but we need one with honor, dignity, and truth.
For now, we have Obama and we must vote for him or loose Roe v Wade and thousands more of our young people in this horrible war.

Susan   May 9th, 2008 3:48 pm ET

Unbelievable!
This campaign is getting nastier and nastier! And it's not the candidates…it's their supporters!
I support Hillary but I doubt very much at this point if she will win.
There is a lot of division in the Party, and stupid remarks by Ted Kennedy and Al Sharpton do nothing to heal the rift.
The bottom line is that Hillary has millions of supporters in a constituency that Barack needs if he is going to beat John McCain.
Bad mouthing Hillary Clinton at this stage of the game will not encourage her supporters to back Obama for the White House.
Personally I hope she is not his VP. I think she has enormous potential for the future, and will chart her own course in due time. I agree with Gloria Borger on CNN last night when she suggested Obama choose a popular Clinton supporter such as Governor Strickland or Bayh as his running mate.
That would strenthen the ticket and bring both sides together.
The last person he should choose is Bill Richardson or some other turncoat or virulent Hillary hater. The Democrat ticket would go down the tubes!!

LucieLee   May 9th, 2008 3:48 pm ET

I think Kennedy is absolutely right….it is not only insane to think that these two could even be on a ticket together…but not conceivable given how Clinton has run this campaign against Barack. She is polarizing and divisive…which is totally in noncompliance with Barack Obama's platform..totally not within the kind of presidency that Barack wants to have…She has never been in this thing for her country, not the Democratic Party..this has been totally about Hillary Rodham Clinton…..and that is unforgiveable……as well as a disgrace.

SHIRLEY,OH   May 9th, 2008 3:48 pm ET

You are so right Margaret! Kennedy makes me sick to my stomach! The good Kennedy's are gone! God Bless Them!!!! 2. How many people will / will not vote for Clinton because she is a woman?

3. How many people will vote for McCain if their candidate isn't the nominee only because they don't want to vote for a woman or a black man?

Obama should NOT put Clinton on his ticket. He will regret it (even if they win the White House). This time he should take the advice of Bush: NEVER NEGOTIATE WITH TERRORIST. That's how Clinton's supporters are acting - like terrorist. They are threatening the national and financial security of this nation by threatening to vote for McCain knowing that another Republican term has the potential to cripple America. Don't forget the judicial concerns.

I hope that Obama spoke with Gore about the down side to working with the Clintons. When the Clintons do not agree with Obama's policies or positions, they will be working/negotiating behind his back to undermine him. There are plenty of qualified running mates who will complement the Obama administration, such as Richardson and Edwards. Of course - Gore will be an excellent choice but he probably does not want to be VP again.

Kerry is not a bad choice, but the Republicans know how to swift boat him. I am sure they will be up to their horns attempting to swift boat Obama so an Obama-Kerry ticket may be too risky. But I like Kerry. Maybe he has been "vetted" and, therefore, can breeze through the swift boat.

Wouk   May 9th, 2008 3:45 pm ET

Hey Sara from Boston–vote McCain and if he wins be prepared for a president who doesn't support equal pay for equal work for women, will appoint judges who will take control of your reproductive freedom and who will follow an economic policy that will send your sons to war and put your home on the auction block. Real smart decision, Sara.

D.J. Morales   May 9th, 2008 3:41 pm ET

The future president of The United States of America must be a person who commands respect from foreign nations and who symbolizes something positive about this great country. Obama is just such a person. In him the world can see living proof of America's nature; the opportunity, the racial tolerance, freedom from opression, religious variety living in harmony and all the things that the world is needing in order to end the suffering of so many peole around the world. To compromise these qualities by combining them with the ruthless ambitions of a person unsuited for leadership, from a family of doubtful moral strength with a proven record of duplicity, would send the wrong message not only to the world, but also to future generations that will see in the act an irresponsible admition that guile and deceit are valid qualities. Obabama must select a person of equal moral and personal strength as his running mate. He must be free to continue listening to his inner convictions and not be subjected to the forces of political expediency. A resounding NO to Clinton for V.P.

I throughly AGREE with KENNEDY!! After her recent show of Bullheadedness and disrespect for her partys needs…+ the old White House ways of the Clinton/Bush years…We Need a NEW start!! I hope Mr. Obama;s choice will be another person of honesty and integrity , with his interests and the intersts of the American people, first and foremost. not a spoiled, selfish bullheaded, thoughtless egomanic!! Obviously!!!
OBAMA IS THE MAN FOR THE COUNTRY!!! LETS HOPE SOON THE COUNTRY WILL BE UNITED FOR THE MAN!!

Problem with Hillary is, you get Bill to too, so who will you act have to talk to…

other thing is, she is to tied with a lot of corporation's and special interest groups, so no good gain there…

I think he should choose Maria Shriver for VP.. A young white woman…

Marilyn   May 9th, 2008 3:40 pm ET

Having Hillary as VP would NOT make me vote for Obama. I've never voted for a Republican in my life, but if Obama is the nominee my vote goes to McCain.

Darth Vadik, CA   May 9th, 2008 3:38 pm ET

I think we should throw Hillary out of the party.

Ted Kennedy is right NO NO NO ! If the ticket needs a woman there are others that can fill the bill. Janet Napolitano for instance. She would attract feminists and Catholic voters. I also like Wesley Clark., or Joe Biden.
