Barack Obama will be on the Situation Room tonight.

(CNN) — Sen. Barack Obama will respond to a tough new foreign policy criticism from John McCain in an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer in The Situation Room.

This week, the presumptive Republican nominee has taken aim at Obama over his willingness to consider dialogue with nations hostile to the United States.

At a Tuesday campaign event in Miami, McCain attacked Obama’s position in favor of a possible relaxation of the Cuban embargo policy.

"These steps would send the worst possible signal to Cuba's dictators — there is no need to undertake fundamental reforms, they can simply wait for a unilateral change in US policy. I believe we should give hope to the Cuban people, not to the Castro regime,” said McCain. “My administration will press the Cuban government. The embargo must stay in place until these basic elements of democratic society are met."

In Chicago Monday, McCain criticized Obama for saying Iran did not pose the same threat to the United States as the former Soviet Union had.

“Obviously Iran isn’t a superpower and doesn’t possess the military power the Soviet Union had, but that does not mean that the threat posed by Iran is insignificant,” said the Arizona senator.

Watch Obama respond at 4 p.m. on CNN’s The Situation Room.

WE DID NOT TALK TO CUBA FOR DECADES. DID WE ACCOMPLISHED ANYTHING ? OFF COURSE NOT. THIS IS COMPUTER AGE NOT ANY MORE STONE AGE. IF WE DON'T TALK THEY DON'T CARE. THEY HAVE SAME PRIDE LIKE US. ONLY PEOPLE WILL CONTINUE TO SUFFER JUST BECAUSE THE POLITICIAN ON BOTH SIDES ARE IGNORANT AND ARROGANT. IF MCCAIN BECOME PRESIDENT IT WILL BE ANOTHER WORST AND DARK BUSH ERA IN AMERICAN HISTORY.

"IF NO-BAMA STEALS THE NOMINATION FROM HILLARY…

…I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE MCCAIN & THE G.O.P EAT HIM ALIVE !!

I'LL MAKE POPCORN "

You mean that McCain can win by supporting a war that's based partly on testimony from a dude named "Curve Ball"?

I suppose next he'll support a war based on someone named "Split-fingered Fastball!"

Obama will make McCain wish he was wearing Depends!!!

Stennis, CA   May 20th, 2008 3:31 pm ET

We all know Iran and North Korea are part of the so called "AXIS OF EVIL", so if Bush can negotiate or have a diplomatic dialogue with Pyonyang about their nuclear ambitions, why can't Obama if he should win the presidency negotiate or have diplomatic dialogue with Tehran. Oh them republicans, they forget what's good for the geese is also good for the gander. I will bet McCain lost his "bearing" on this one.

Barack the Vote in RI   May 20th, 2008 3:31 pm ET

First "McSame" is recorded saying he would speak with Hamas, now he is criticizing Obama for suggesting the same. Next, he says that the "economy is not his thing" and people are "better off" these past few years than before - with skyrocketing job losses, home foreclosures and obscene gas prices….then he says that the war could go on for another 100 years!

What on Earth are you people thinking when you HRC supporter cry babies say that you would rather vote for McSame or stay home! If you have any common sense you'd put the good of this country BEFORE your childish, bruised egos….it's beyond ridiculous. Throw America under the bus to prove your idiotic point - but don't complain over the next 4 years when the country's situation is worse.

HRC supporters - don't burn down the house just to make a cup of coffee.

McCain obviously did his patriotic duty in Vietnam. I wiI not question that issue unlike the GOP, which lied about Kerry's patriotism and heroics.

I realize no one will state the obvious because it would be poitical suicide to do so. However, If Kissinger, Nixon's secretary of state had not had discussions with the Vietnamese in France, John McCain probably may very well have parished in the Vietnamese POW camp, which he was being held.

Someone should remind Senator McCain that he owes his life to diplomacy. Or apeasemant as he and the President would have you beleive.

Going to be interesting to see how Obama answers the foreign policy issues. Obama always seems to answer questions by NOT answering the question at hand which the American people seem to be okay with.

If the American people want to "Talk about REAL change", then that is what the American people are going to get: "TALK" about real change.

Looks like it may be too late for Hillary so "TALK" is what the American people are going to get.

Let the chips fall where they may.

It is the jewish lobbyists that want Iran to be portrayed as enemy for the benefit of Israel. Iran has no powerful weapons it is no threat to US and moreover Iran has democracy in place. Curretn president is democratically elected. It is the interest of Israeli jews to see all their neighbors destroyed at the expense of USA and they continue their genocide in palestine and lebanon. USA wake upto the truth and protect our country. God Bless America!

If Obama brings the troops back from Iraq, expect to see Al Qaeda here within six months—-

The only thing keeping Al Qaeda in Iraq is our troops that have them pinned down/and or running for their lives—–remove that "heat" and there's nothing to stop them from coming here—

I don't want to have to go to work in an armored car—so let's fight Al Qaeda over there, not here.

McCain won't talk to Cuba until they free up their media, open their borders, legalize all political parties, and essentially destroy their entire political infrastructure and became an American satellite state, fully democratic. And how is he going to do this? "Political pressure." Political pressure: his solution to Iran, North Korea, Cuba, and Sudan/Darfur.

I'd like to see the whole word democratic, but it isn't going to happen, and last time I checked political pressure doesn't get that much done. McCain's living in a fantasy world where what America says goes, and thanks to GWB that's no longer a reality.

We are already talking to Iran. We have always talked to our adversaries. Haven't they heard of keep your friends close and your enemies closer. That is so you can see what is going on with them. We have been having talks with Iran for the last twenty plus years and they have not stopped. This is just a political ploy. They are about to stop now because we are going to bomb them before Bush gets out of office. So that people will be afraid and vote for the Republican. And some Americans will fall for it. If we do that we will have completely lost our world standing.

Wow, another big support given to Obama by friends in media - precious airtime to try to explain what he meant when he said that the US should talk without preconditions to Iran who wants to erase Israel from the map.
He's being offered a second shot to mince his words carefully and use his power over words and his taboo-powered rhetorics to get out of this new mess on his foreign policy.
But no matter what he says, he's not going to convince the Jewish Americans that he's truly for them. Not when Hamas has endorsed him, not when his adviser resigned after being known to be talking with Hamas. Just imagine, if that adviser wasn't exposed, he would still be with Obama's team. Talk about Janus-faced politicians.
Bottom line, Obama will be toast if he's the nominee because the GOP will keep digging and digging a hole for him about his foreign policy until such time when the hole becomes too big and too deep enough for him NOT to get out of it.

Did Kennedy talk face-to-face with Castro?
Did Carter talk face-to-face with Khomeini during hostage crisis?
Did Bill Clinton talk face-to-face with Milosevic?

Of course all Americans want diplomacy. Kennedy with Khrushchev, Nixon with Zedong, and Reagan with Gorbachev are all historical meetings that took place after months of lower-level diplomacy and produced results.

Please tell me if I am wrong, but did Khrushchev, Zedong or Gorbachev deny the Holocaust or call for Israel's destruction?! There is a big difference between the leaders of the Soviet Union and China vs. a crazy man running a terrorist state.

An unconditional face-to-face meeting/photo-op with Ahmadinejad is appeasement because this is exactly what he seeks and gets without making any concessions of his own. How does Barack, as POTUS, sit and have his picture taken with a madman who is a Holocaust denier and has stated his primary purpose is "to wipe Israel off the map."

What rational negotiations can come from a man so removed from reality that he believes the Holocaust never happened?

Even the thought of this makes me sick to my stomach.

This is appeasement.

Finally, a candidate with the courage to take a look at our Cuban relationship. Years of this senseless embargo have only hardened the resolve of the Cuban people against US gov't. I am proud, yes - for the first time in my adult life, of the willingness of the next administration to honestly evaluate relationships that need not be so hostile with nations previous administrations have antagonized.

Perhaps our defense contractors should begin to consider more peaceful capital ventures. We are not interested in war anymore…

If Hillary (and the press) says West Virginia and Kentucky are representative of the people then she would be winning by 30%. But she's losing. So how does the way the Kentucky primary turns out differ from the way the Mississippi or Utah or North Carolina primaries turned out? Now is Hillary for all states or for only states that agree with her.

BTW Hillary does not represent all women. There are some women who can think for themselves. A woman president would be great. When is Chelsea running?

Cuba, what are we punishing them for. I would like to know how many people in the general public even know. I would be the response would be they are communist, which is an embarrasing response given our biggest trade partner in China is Communist and there are others we also trade with. Additionally, whom are we punishing? I can tell you, the Cuban people. Why, because politicians are afraid of the Florida vote. People need to get educated.

brad k   May 20th, 2008 2:53 pm ET

This is great for the repubs! Watch your favorite state of florida run to the republicans if Obama stats talking about "having a dialogue" with R. Castro. Obama is having enough problems with the Hispanic demographic. I can't believe he could be baited this easily. This will play right into McCain's hands. The general election most likely will come down to three states, FL, OH, and MI. If Obama can't take two out of three, McCain's got it. So keep talking about having your dialogue and watch the Latino (along with Hillary's rural) voters sway Florida to the red again!

1. Hillary is the 1st woman ever to run for President. She is tough as nails and I am so proud to have lived in a generation that not only is a woman running, but I believe the BEST candidate running!
2. Florida and Michigan…when DNC gets off their butts and count these two, we will win!
3. Caucus's are flaud and they won't be in the General. This would be a BIG advantage to Hillary and that is one of the reasons she will legitamately beat John McCain.
4. Delegates needed are 2210, not 2025, like Obama's people would like us to believe.
5. Republicans will have to vote for their candidate in the General, not switch over to Obama like they did in the Primary.

Hillary will win and she is the BEST choice for America

stsw531   May 20th, 2008 2:48 pm ET

Why don't we embargo Saudi Arabia? It's hardly "democratic" — certainly, not even as open a society as Cuba is. In Cuba, women can drive, they aren't chattel. In Cuba, everyone gets free education, free healthcare. They have something like a 98% literacy rate. There is poverty, but that is all much worse than it has to be — all because of the long-time US blockade. If McCain believes we should continue the economic embargo against Cuba simply because it is not as "democratic" as he would like, then I would like to see him impose an embargo against Saudi Arabia. If he won't endorse that, then he's just playing politics. More of the same old wanking from the GOP.

The race is far from over Mr. Obama. There are 6 months to go to the General Election and anything can and will happen to open the eyes of the American public to your many faults and destructive plans for the US.

John McCain has the experience and wisdom to lead our country in the next four years. My list of priorities.

1 National security (without a strong leader the rest doesn't matter)
2 Economy (moderation and fairness to all is the key)
3 Health Care (the private sector working with government)
4 Crime (keep all criminals off the streets)
5. Immigration (good judgement in keeping out terrorists)
6 Fair Trade (NAFTA modified by a sensible man)
7 Religon (keep it in the churches not in the government)

Barack Obama cannot deliver any of the above.

On the other hand, over the last 45 years we've talked to the ussr, china, north korea, east germany, poland, romania, syria, iran, iraq, venezuela, czechoslavakia, vietnam.

I just don't get it. What is it about discussing differences with people we have fundamental disagreements with that is so revolting to mccain and bush and the republicans? The future has already been written, the only difference is that we haven't seen it, or lived through it as yet. So no matter how many votes are casted, no matter who many speeches are given, no matter how many stones are thrown, the bottom line is that we cannot stop destiny, because only one person is in control, and that is GOD. Always remember that "looks are deceiving", and "no one is perfect", and "NOTHING JUST HAPPEN". Always, be ready for what the future holds. Learn to "stand still" and "see the salvation of the Lord". We are already divided, and no one will ever change that. There is only one world, made up of many.

In God We Trust.

Interesting notion, "Clinton Supporter", seeing as how it's Hillary who can't take her eyes of the copy at EVERY speech she gives.

OOOOOObama '08!

Amazing   May 20th, 2008 2:35 pm ET

I find it remarkable that there is even one hardworking, economically challenged American, white or otherwise, that would consider putting another Republican in the White House! Will we only wake up after we're all sleeping in the streets? Vote your own interests, people; not your prejudices.

Matt   May 20th, 2008 2:33 pm ET

The thing I love about all of this is that Bush, the person who initiated this foreign policy criticism by saying that Democrats (Obama) are like the appeasers of the Nazis in the 1930s, looks like the biggest jack*** in the world to those who know American History. Prescott Bush, George W.'s grandfather was an OUTSPOKEN supporter of the Nazis during the 1930s, openly trading with them. He was nearly indicted for violation of the "Trading with the enemies" Ban which existed at the time. I find that hysterical…alright Bush…hate the appeaser, but why don't ya give ol' Granddaddy a prayer and find out what he has to say.

Val   May 20th, 2008 2:32 pm ET

Why does it take Obama 48 hours to respond to McCain or Bush? If Obama does get that call at 3:00 o'clock in the morning does this mean that he will he need 48 hours to make a decision? Seriously.

The Truth   May 20th, 2008 2:30 pm ET

Now if the polls suggest that Obamus has an insurmountable lead, did the pollsters go to Kentucky? Did they tell Kentucky and West Virginia about it? Why so much negative press about Hillary.

Every day I pick up the paper or turn on the TV there is negativism about Hillary. Surely the pundits and other idiotss could think of bad news for Obamus or McClain. Let's give Hillary a break.

I am sick of the negative press for Hillary

Lily   May 20th, 2008 2:30 pm ET

McCain doesn't seem to comprehend the difference between Shiias and Sunnis and doesn't know who is ultimately in charge of decision making in Iran–these foreign deficiencies are not just unacceptable, but they are extremely dangerous. One George W. Bush in my lifetime is plenty!

Like great Presidents before him, Obama will "never negotiate out of fear, but will never fear to negotiate". Obama doesn't see the world in black and white, like McCain and Bush, he sees the world as it is–intricate shades of grey.

Obama in '08!

Clinton Supporter   May 20th, 2008 2:29 pm ET

Once again he has to ANNOUNCE that he's going to respond on TV…

…because he needs his speech writers to tell him what to say.

Hillary Clinton wouldn't have to delay firing back!

Oscar, Rio Vista, CA   May 20th, 2008 2:29 pm ET

If this is Mcfart's strongest subject then he is in deep do-do. He just thought he would scare us half to death, call Obama naive and laugh all the way to the nomination.

I have news for you Mcfart — Obama is not going anywhere. He is going to make mincemeat of you because the people in this country are sick and tired of your inactions and fearmongering. We want a new president with new ideas. Your same-ol-same-ol isn't going to work this time. And neither is your stupid personal attacks.

Flip-flop your way out of this.

Over the Hill(ary)   May 20th, 2008 2:29 pm ET

So McAncient's arguement to everything is basically to leave things just the way they are. Is anyone really happy with the way things are? Need I say more? Obama '08, Yes we can, and yes we WILL!!!

Jan, Knoxville, TN   May 20th, 2008 2:29 pm ET

John McCain is a dangerous man and can't even keep his facts straight. Can't wait to see the debate between McCain and Obama!

Look for a lot more wars and other problems if McCain is elected! All who want peace should vote for Obama!

Nicole in NE   May 20th, 2008 2:28 pm ET

McCain and Bush's policies are laughable. The war in Iraq did not make us safer, we should all know that! More and more countries shy away from The United States as a whole because of our "go it alone attitude" If there is a big war in our future we need allies and America has lost support in most of the world due to our handlings of the Iraq war.

We need to dicontinue this failed policy in Iraq and finish the job of finding Osama Bin Laden, and also work on our relationship with other countries while trying to make this world a more peaceful place!

McCain has the same attitude as Bush about Foreign policy, so don't be surprised if we end up in more battles than we have troops for. More American blood will be spilled and it will possibly be under a DRAFT as well. Open your eyes people!

People say they will vote for McCain on experience. Experience on what?
Losing more jobs under NAFTA? Continuing tax cuts for the most wealthy while the rest of us are suffering? Continuing a FAILED Foreign policy?

If this is EXPERIENCE - count me out!

MD Houston   May 20th, 2008 2:26 pm ET

James,

Here is a quote from Lenin:

"Probe with bayonets, if you encounter mush, continue. If you encounter steel, withdraw".

An Obama presidency will leave this world in a much more dangerous level than we are currently. Sure, Obama supporters scream about a "3rd Bush term", but that campaign soundbite shows a serious lack of knowlege about the realities of politics and a complete surrender to abject partisanship which has plagued Washington DC since Nixon.

What do YOU know   May 20th, 2008 2:25 pm ET

"These steps would send the worst possible signal to Cuba's dictators"

Last time I checked, Dictators tend to not want to share the power they possess; hence making them Dictators. Now correct me if I'm wrong here, but Fidel Castro was and has been Cuba's only dictator for the last several decades. Dictators rule alone. So I'm just wondering how many Dictators McCain thinks Cuba has, and how many of them he can actually avoid? Is there one? Are there many? My 6th grade Social Studies Skills seem to have eluded me in my old age (24). Can someone please tell me where I can find a clue?

Marcus   May 20th, 2008 2:25 pm ET

McCain is TOAST!

Ex Clinton supporter   May 20th, 2008 2:25 pm ET

In the event that I made a bad choice to back Clinton, I have decided that I do not want to make an other bad choice only to lose come Nov. So with that said I will have to Back McCain like millions of ex-Clinton supporters are. The way Obama is making a fool of him self thinking that Bush was talking about him I might even think those millions are on to something

Jane L.   May 20th, 2008 2:23 pm ET

Well, Obama continues to appear as if he's the nominee. Everyone seems to be accepting that except the voters, who have cast a majority of their votes for Sen. Clinton. Our party are at the mercy of a small group known as "super" delegates. Even Sen. Byrd, whose state overwhelmingly voted for Clinton, says he'll cast his delegate vote for Obama.

If this race had been won fairly, we Clinton supporters would then support Obama, We wouldn't have the best candidate, but we would not have complained. Unfortunately, he wasn't chosen fairly, and that changed everything.

No matter how much Obama's crowd tries to "make nice" now, the damage is done. I don't think anything they or Obama says or does now will change that. Consequently, they may be facing insurmountable retribution in November. Sadly, the country may suffer as well.

I suggest that before next time, the DNC change its ridiculous process of chosing a nominee to that which is used in the general election. I also suggest an oversight of media coverage of elections.
And of course, we need to have new discourse on sexism and gender bias in this country.

MD Houston   May 20th, 2008 2:22 pm ET

Obama keeps doubling-down on his ignorance of foreign policy.

The terrorists of 9/11 didn't have the military budget of the Soviets. The terrorist of Hamas and Hezbollah don't either.

Obama doesn't realize the realities of the world in which is claims he can effectively lead.

Enlightened Voter   May 20th, 2008 2:20 pm ET

Go get him Barack, should take all of 3 mins. By the way could you ask John and Hillary what about our gas tax break?

Dont Be Dumb!!!!!!!   May 20th, 2008 2:20 pm ET

To NO OBAMA: How can Obama steal the election from Hilliary? He's the one who has played by the rules the ENTIRE race. He is in the lead because more people have voted for him that's why he leads in states won, popular vote and delegates. I hate to break it to you, but your girl losing fair and square. So if you are dumb enough to vote for McCain and add to the economic problems and continue this pointless war for 100 or so years then go right ahead because you obviously don't really care about the future of the country

Herman   May 20th, 2008 2:10 pm ET

I have exactly double the experience Obama has on foreign policy, if we go by his "growing up" in another country metric…

Enough   May 20th, 2008 2:09 pm ET

Is McSame going to jump every time Obama utters a word? Geez, this is getting ridiculous. I sure have enjoyed watching Obama take the right to task - he's not your typical democratic - god love him!!

Greg Pottstown, Pa.   May 20th, 2008 2:08 pm ET

This reminds me of all the diplomatic talking that Kennedy did the hole time the USSR was putting bombs in Cuba. What did they say?

They said the weapons we are giving to Cuba are defensive weapons only

What dose Iran say ? We are only refining uranium to make energy.

This is McCain's point.

BTW it takes years to refine uranium . But only a month to build a bomb.

Some people can't be talked down.

Brian from California   May 20th, 2008 2:08 pm ET

Barack just go back to your memorized stump speech, that is the only way you can snow over the democrats. Being in a debate with someone that has experience and knows what he is talking about like McCain makes you look weaker than you already are. The more the people know of your tax and spend ways and your lack of experience, the more likely McCain will win in six months.

McCain '08

Mary   May 20th, 2008 2:07 pm ET

Obama knows nothing about foreign policy. McCain is the experienced one and I am not for him. I am for Hillary. I won't vote for Obama if he is the nominee. Obama is just a celebrity who got a free ride form the media and the DNC males. No, I won't change my mind about him in Nov even if Hillary asks me. It's a matter of principle and intuition.

John C from DC   May 20th, 2008 2:07 pm ET

The GOP has been playing around the intelligence of Americans for decades. They have been using dirty tatics, excuse me to say, that are not easy for many people to analyse, especially the blue-collar workers. That is why even Hillary is trying to use such dirty tatics on Obama, but it did not work this time, and it will not work in november.

Viva Obama 08   May 20th, 2008 2:06 pm ET

doesn't work that way we still remember that in general election.

It's become obvious that McCain is following the Bush Administration policy book. What happened to his maverick persona? He is going to lose and deservedly so. The Republican king makers must have gotten to him to follow their dictates. Guess the maverick in him is withering away with age.

How do you expect him to raise the bar for this country if he cannot even handle an impromptu interview or rebuttle!?

TJP   May 20th, 2008 2:02 pm ET

Ooh. Obama. What a tough guy. So tough he cancels a debate in North Carolina with Hillary because he got his but kicked in the ABC debate. And why does he choose tonight to act tough on CNN vs John McCain? Simply because he doesn't want CNN to focus on the next butt kicking he's going to take tonight in the Kentucky primary. He didn't want the voters to focus on the 41 point loss in West Virginia last week so he begged John Edwards to announce an endorsement the next day. Now he wants CNN to participate in his diversion. Shouldn't we instead focus on the voters and what they are saying?

HILLARY HAS THE POPULAR VOTE!!!!!!   May 20th, 2008 2:02 pm ET

I am beginning to think that CNN will not publish a pro-republican response? All you see in these postings are spewing liberals. Where do all of these idiots come from? If you want a look into what an Obama foreign policy would look like, Jimmy Carter's dismal failure should be your vision. Obama is nothing more than a black Jimmy Carter. His hopeless nievete in foreign affairs would seriously imperil our free world, as well as that of our allies.

CWatson   May 20th, 2008 2:01 pm ET

There are two ways to resolve a dispute: talk or fight. I'm done with the politices where we fight before we've exhausted the talking options. Talking gives nothing away unless one talks idiotically like McBush who can't even get the Iran leadership right in his latest gaffe..

tomstock   May 20th, 2008 2:01 pm ET

I see 98% of the comments here are anti-McCain. Afraid to let the pro-McCain ones through? And don't tell me that all the posters are pro-Obama when clearly it's less than 50% based on the latest polling. CNN's bias glares out more than Rush Limbaugh's!

The fact is, you can't have a rational dialog with someone who is irrational. You can't try to make peace with someone who is hell-bent on destroying you.

Read the book "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" and you'll understand why you can't sit down with the leaders who want to be legitimized.

Modern Monkey!!!!   May 20th, 2008 2:00 pm ET

Democracy is not forced, it does not occur by suppressing and invading. Nor does it occur by making the people so uncomfortable that they beg for relief.
McCain is a torturer.
It is well past time to sit down with the Iranians and air grievances on both sides. Its not like we have been perfect angels with the people and leadership of the country.

“First of all, I’m not in favor of sticking my finger in the eye of Fidel Castro. In fact, I would favor a road map towards normalization of relations such as we presented to the Vietnamese and led to a normalization of relations between our two countries.” - John McCain

He said this during an interview in 2000 with CNN while the Elian Gonzalez.

John McCain is grandstanding for Republicans now that he's the nominee. He has a long history, and it's shown for the most part, he's only being what they want him to be right now. Who knows what he'll be for and say tomorrow.

Innocent   May 20th, 2008 1:57 pm ET

Wait a minute Senator McCain, when did it become weakness to negotiate?
How do you understand somebody you don't talk to?
How do you get them to agree to your views if you don't talk to them?

I must have missed something in this conversation….let's start over!!

Ellie   May 20th, 2008 1:55 pm ET

Yahooo -

YOU go Sen. Obama!!! It's about time Sen. McCain gets call out on his own "dirt" and "straight talk" BS. This man has been walking around like he's the sheriff in a ghost town. Nobody is scared of this old fart. He better "recognize" that there's a NEW sheriff in town, and his name is OBAMA!! Okay? Okay.

This guy has been getting away without any vetting at all. Those days are over.

We need to wear him out and turn him out!! November won't come soon enough for Sen. McCain. Let the battle begin…..

Chris   May 20th, 2008 1:55 pm ET

For those who care to listen while you are crying foul on CNN, FOXNEWS is so pro-republican and anti-democrat that its a crying shame. Democrats should be proud that CNN shows them in a good light because FOX tries it best to show you all in the worst lpossible way imaginable.

McCainisanutcase   May 20th, 2008 1:55 pm ET

McCain won't negotiate, becasue his idea of negotiation is to jump across a table and try to choke someone. Talk to Kathy Dubs about a City Council meeting where she was attacked by Mccain for calling him out on trying to get an airport built on land owned by his wife's family.

shelly in IL   May 20th, 2008 1:55 pm ET

What is McCains problem and why does he keep repeating himself about this foreign policy thing? Senator O is da man!

PUT MCAIN IN A NURSING HOME…..PLEASE

Sean   May 20th, 2008 1:53 pm ET

Clearly, the Republican party is grasping at straws. The last quote here from McCain is: “Obviously Iran isn’t a superpower and doesn’t possess the military power the Soviet Union had, but that does not mean that the threat posed by Iran is insignificant".

Now, here's a quote from Obama: "Let me be absolutely clear: Iran is a grave threat." But the Soviet Union posed an added threat. "The Soviet Union had thousands of nuclear weapons, and Iran doesn't have one."

McCain knows that they're saying the same thing about the threat posed by Iran relative to the Soviet Union, but he's trying to make something out of nothing anyway. If this is all the Republicans have, then their chances of winning in November don't look too good.

Bill N   May 20th, 2008 1:53 pm ET

It's quite simple. If a man that McCain considers the greatest president this country has ever had can talk to the leaders of the evil empire then a president should be able to talk to anyone. But then again maybe McCain secretly believes we should never have talked to the Soviets.

MD   May 20th, 2008 1:53 pm ET

All this cowboy tough talk does not mask McCane's psychological weakness caused by 5 years of torture and humiliation.

Tom C. Illinois   May 20th, 2008 1:53 pm ET

Let's see. Over 3,000 nuclear warheads aimed at us. A dictator who vowed to crush us from within. A stand off in Germany. Russian missiles in Cuba. The threat from Iran is not even close to what Russia was. Obama did not say Iran was not a threat, but that it is not as much a threat as Russia was. McCain twisted it and lied.

Give those people a taste of freedom and they just might change that government themselves. Dictators can be overcome from within.

He again needs his speech writers to turn a pretty phrase in order to protect his inept original statement and make him sound like a strong leader…

Obama is like a baby bull in a china shop, everyone thinks the baby bull is cute, but oh what disasters await the exquisite china; when the baby bull destroys everything.

Obama and McCain both weak leaders, the only true strong leader is H.R. Clinton.

Super delegates chose wisely between Obama and Clinton. The presidency is the highest and the most important position in the world, genuine curriculum vitae and the citizens’ votes must all be counted, to make the president legal.

H.R. Clinton 2009-2012 the only true legal future President

Andy   May 20th, 2008 1:51 pm ET

WOW this is going to be an easy election for McCain.

Obama wants to make friends with the Iranians, and become the next Putin. Obama wants to become King, and is willing to compromise our security as a nation. Obama doesn't equal JFK. JFK may have met with the Soviets but he bombed the Cubans.

JFK was a proud American and vet
McCain is a proud American and vet
BO and his wife have never been proud of this great country before.

Not interacting with Cuba is not only the McCain way, but the way of every president since that has become a oppressive regime.

Why would we consider an new policy toward Cuba when the policy we have had in place for 50 years has worked so well? McCain really needs to wake up, nothing in Cuba has changed, our policies have failed, we need a new approach. In addition, the threat from Iran would not be as great if it were not for our policies - this country really needs to regroup. Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity. We can't make insane decisions in November - we need a change. Hillary or Barrack, but not McCain.

Tim from Canada   May 20th, 2008 1:48 pm ET

Obama is getting another chance to go over his talking points and CNN is creating this opportunity.
CNN you are biased and helping Obama get elected?

CNN = Politics

CNN should = Truth

So why isn't McCain calling for an embargo of China or Saudi Arabia or any of the other non-democratic and/or communist regimes we are trading with regularly. The embargo of Cuba would be long since gone if the Cuban-American constituency in south Florida wasn't so critical in Presidential politics. And Obama didn't say Iran was insignificant; just the obvious satement that the USSR was a tad more dangerous.

Chris - Hemet, Ca.   May 20th, 2008 1:47 pm ET

JFK talked to the Soviets during the cold war. Nixon opened the door to China when they were seen as a dangerous communist nation. Carter worked the middle east, specifically Egypt and Israel, into a pretty solid peace accord and, let's see, oh yeah Bush ignored practically every potential enemy on the planet and the country and the world are a mess. Just a coincedence?

Doug R.   May 20th, 2008 1:47 pm ET

McCain is a fraud and a hypocrite. He is also a two- faced liar. I wonder if he realizes we are talking with North Korea and Libya. I wonder if he remembers that Hamas was democratically elected. If he doesn't want to hold talks with Iran, what does he want to do.
Obama shold take off the gloves and go after him. Open up the old farts closet and watch all of the skeletons fall out. McCain is absolutely pathetic.

Debbie,NJ   May 20th, 2008 1:46 pm ET

And McCain knows what he's talking about. This is why we have 4000 plus soldiers dead, we are billions of dollars in debt to China for paying for the war, Ben Laden is still making threats and running free, our money is not worth 2 cents that's why we pay so much for oil. Other countries aren't having this problem with gas prices. Iran, Ben Laden and Hamas, all our enemies have been put in power by us but we don't talk to them. Iraq and the US are less safe now than we were before the war in Iraq. McMcain, Bush, CHeney, Rumsfeld all need to be tried for putting this country in the state that it is in now.

Joseph, Los Angeles California   May 20th, 2008 1:46 pm ET

Obama wants peace in this world. I'm with him and the Democratic Party.

DJ in TX   May 20th, 2008 1:46 pm ET

To NO-BAMA - Why do you feel like Sentor Obama is "stealing" this election? He's the one who won more states and more delegates. What part of that is stealing?

Hillary has no one to blame but herself and her campaign. They didn't realize this was a "change" year and initially presented the wrong message. Her campaign didn't prepare for anything past Super Tuesday and didn't focus on the caucus states. That was a mistake on their part.

Believe me, with Senator Obama having won more states and delegates and he's not the nominee, that is when it would appear "stolen". The Dems would surely lose then.

BTW - I'm a Democrat and I can't support Senator Clinton. My research (and I've done a lot) shows me too much that I don't like. I'll never vote Republican, but i couldn't vote for her either.

KAREN   May 20th, 2008 1:46 pm ET

I AM GOING TO VOTE FOR BARACK OBAMA, BECAUSE HE HAS INSPIRED ME AGAIN TO BELIEVE THAT THERE ARE HONEST AND CARING POLITICIANS. HILLARY CLINTON IS DISHONEST AND IS HURTING THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY.

Mike in Fairfax   May 20th, 2008 1:45 pm ET

What is this?! Every time Obama gets challgenged he is going to run to Wolf Blitzer and hit some softballs out of the park? "Look Wolf, what I was saying was……" "Look Wolf, what I meant was…." "Look Wolf, we America does not want a thid Bush term.. " Give me a break!

Jose,FL   May 20th, 2008 1:45 pm ET

Get McCain, Obama. McCain is stuck back in the cold war. Americans are ready to move forward with Cuba and Central America. McCain has not offer one single solution to improve our standing with Cuba.
Go Obama!!

Tell It Like It Is   May 20th, 2008 1:43 pm ET

What we have here at CNN is as it has always been: a severe left leaning bias.

yiannis   May 20th, 2008 1:43 pm ET

Senator McCain's position is weak because we have heard all these republican arguments for years now. All of these arguments have been put to practice for the last 8 years and have lead us to becoming less safe, poorer and more divided.

Democrats will hold 65-70 senate seats after the 2010 election.

Immersed in corruption the Republicans have run out of arguments and ideas.

WHOOP THAT TRICK!   May 20th, 2008 1:43 pm ET

GO RIGHT AHEAD OBAMA….

KICK HIS ANCIENT, CRYPT KEEPER FACE HAVING, FLIP FLOPPING, LOBBIST LOVING, BUSH 3RD TERM SUPPORTING, HAMAS NEGOTIATING, HYPOCRITICAL OLD BUTT.

"OLD MAN YELLS AT CLOUD."

Paula   May 20th, 2008 1:43 pm ET

Wolf: Here's a question to address again to Barack Hussein Obama. Please ask and please press for an answer of why he sat in Rev Wrigth's church for 20 years. I know the Obama's have said America has moved on and Barack addressed this in his speech, but he has never provided an answer. Is there any media person that will pressure him for an answer?

KMAN   May 20th, 2008 1:42 pm ET

'Bomb, Bomb Iran' was a sign of stupidity and a complete lack of sound judgement on Mcthuselah's part … 'talking to your ememies' is a smart way to go now that Bush has proven that not talking to them is totally unproductive.

Linda Esen   May 20th, 2008 1:42 pm ET

I correlate judgment to leadership and managment style - Obama has proved to excel in leading his capaimgn to an eventual victory against the dreaded Clinton machine-no one thought he could!! McCain is a senator for 80 centuries of "experience" , a POW , Military guy and yet he authorized this war, advocates another 4 to 100 years continueing it but most importantly; follows Bush policies, senator; YOU should be questioned on you judgment!!!
Obama has the judgment to help this nation turn the page and move forward into a brighter future

Jim   May 20th, 2008 1:42 pm ET

It is mind boggleing that anyone would accuse Obama of stealing the election. How??????????????? He created a better organization, ran a cleaner race, and raised more money. How does winning constitute stealing an election.

peter   May 20th, 2008 1:42 pm ET

McCain is just another phony patriot that hates America

Sad Day   May 20th, 2008 1:41 pm ET

When the best the republicans can put up for the election is this old man, even sadder that he will beat the little nothing, all talk, no experience, kid rally wonder. Yup sad
