Did anyone have any doubt that he was in great shape? By the way, those of you questioning his psychological soundness the same letter says his mental health is also great.
He really need to share his secret though. Those are some enviable numbers for cholesterol and blood pressure.
Keep it up Obama, and let's put this smoking behind us permanently, huh?

HILLARY NEVER!   May 29th, 2008 2:49 pm ET

He is young and fit as opposed to old and used up. Fresh as opposed to has-been. He is the model of the future as opposed to an example of times past. We need something new, fresh and exciting. Someone not afraid to try something different, obviously the old ways are not working.

Barrack will win ALL the caucuses in November   May 29th, 2008 2:20 pm ET

Remember how St Obama won the caucuses in ID, WY, NE, KS, CO, NV, ND, and IA? How he lost the popular vote in Texas but still finagled more delegates in their caucuses?

His followers' remarkable ability to finagle Caucuses will come in REAL handy in November against McCain. I am sure the Republicans can't stop laughing.

Democrat against Obama   May 29th, 2008 2:18 pm ET

Who cares…he wont be president anyway.

I know sooo many democrats who will not vote for him. He wont win Ohio or Florida and the Democrats cant win the White House (count your electoral college votes) without those states.

The Democrats are a MESS…and it's because of Obama. 2 years in the senate and he wants to be president…hows that for audacity.

I WILL GLADLY PULL THE LEVER FOR MCCAIN OR WRITE IN HILLARY CLINTON BEFORE I VOTE FOR THAT EMPTY SUIT!

Obama's ego certainly appears to be in perfect health.

Obama fans, why don't you encourage him to go do some work as a U.S. Senator (like meet with the subcommittee he supposedly chairs, you know that one that has jurisdiction over NATO and Afghanistan, the one that he's never called together for a meeting in the short 2.5 years that he's been a U.S. Senator)?

Why don't you encourage him to build a resume by doing some real work on behalf of the American people and maybe run for reelection as a U.S. Senator at least once before he starts running for President of the United States.

This isn't about him being the right person for the job, the article is about his health since he is running for the office..Hillary should be releasing her medical report too…

Just be glad that a HUMAN is in good health and keep it at that…

The only CLOUD that should be over the election should be the fact that the REPUBLICAN GOVERNORS OF MI AND FL messed over their own citizens by moving up their primary..Obama didn't move it up so he shouldn't be punished for it…he had NOTHING to do with it and they all signed an agreement prior to the election..including HILLARY…

People really do see what they want to see!!!!!

Conservative Buyer- CA   May 29th, 2008 2:08 pm ET

There is a whole montage of McCain's detrimental health yet they only had 3 hours to review 1200 pages.

McCain is in bad shape and not one doctor has the courage to at least give some kind of disclosure or clause of his health.

We all know Obama is way healthier than McCain will ever be on his best day.

Hillary Clinton   May 29th, 2008 2:04 pm ET

For those concerned about John McCain's age: In addition to the fact that we are now living longer and healthier, and that his mother is doing quite well at 96, John hikes the Grand Canyon with his son and is able to keep a hectic campaign schedule better than many of his young staffers. Besides, if he can endure over five years as a POW, I am confident that he can handle the stresses of the presidency.

To those who insist it's "too bad" that he's in good health, you're despicable.

I used to be a Hillary supporter (was never anti-Obama, I just respected the Clinton presidency and hoped that HRC still embraced those ideals). After months of reading the news and these ticker comments, however, I've decided that Hillary (and, it seems, many of her supporters) are willing to stoop to unfathomable lows to cinch victory. I just don't respect it…

America needs a change, there's absolutely no denying that. Low-ball politics isn't the way to achieve it, however. In a way, I'm thankful the race has gone on long enough to really give you a feel for the candidates, otherwise I would have remained a Clinton supporter.

Some people are question what to do about Michigan and Florida. Well unfortunately Obama as well as his Campaign team have for months stalled on this issue until the very end.

If Senator Obama was or had been a true democrat he would have come to the conclusion that the fairest method or solution to the problem is and would have been running new Primary elections in these two states so as not to disenfranchise the voters.

Holy Crap you guys are so stupid I cannot WAIT until after Saturday and you have to shut up except for the whining.

First a few FACTS, I know, I know, these do not sit well with the Clintonistas but facts are facts. Mr. Obama is NOT responsible for the mess Fl and MI are in, the states ALONG with the silent COMPLICENT VOTERS ofd these states are responsible PERIOD! Where was all the outcry when, before the dates were set, and the punishment was known, from these two states? THERE WAS NONE, even I, who lived in another state KNEW LAST AUGUST what the outcome of seeting the dates would be, why were you not out on the streets Crying like two year olds then?!? YOUR COMPLICENCY MAKES YOU AT FAULT NO MATTER WHAT PANDERING CLINTON DOES YOU ARE AT FAULT!

As for Mr. Obama "Stalling" the revote all he ever did was state he would ACCEPT whatever the DNC agreed to. He DID point out the potential for voter FRAUD in the revote methods provided by the states but DID NOT REJECT a SINGLE REVOTE PLAN. Both STATES voted down all revote plans, meanwhile Clinton has rejected more potential delegate splits because keeping this subject open is a tactic by HER campaign to get more votes and skew this election. Why should Obama agree to FLAWED and FRADULENT revote plans when even the SYTATES DID NOT?!?! He is NOT the one who broke the rules and is NOT responsible for fixing YOUR screw ups!

that said I am glad our future President is in good health and hope he remains so for at least the next eight years so he can turn our country back to the path intended by the framers of the Constitution.

One of the reasons that FL has such a bad name is the amount of stupid people who migrate here to stir up the pile. I am from FL and for good or bad we screwed up and went against the rules and now like the winch of politics, you believe that they should be changed. "If i can't play, i'm going to take my ball and go home" I've got grandkids 2 & 6 and they are smarter than 60% of the Democrats in this state, and they both act better than the Clinton's. Hey stupid vote for McCain if Hillary can't win. You idiots deserve what you get. I deserted that dumb woman months ago.

What is this obseeion that the public has with the physicals of candidates. A Dr. can Not see the future. No one can Guarantee that a person will be around a cetian number of years. Obama could have an accident or a heart attack in the next few years. There are medical conditions that do not give warning signs. Why do you think that some apparently healthy peole "just drop dead"? McCain is older but he may be mentally bright and around for the next 20 years.
The Quality of the candidates is more important. Our systom has set up a line of succession.

D Frank,
Thats great but know that Obama had nothing to do with Florida choosing not to do a revote. They made that decision on their own. As for Michigan, their proposal for a revote was not acceptable. They were not going to allow registered republicans, and independents to take part in the revote, as well as any dems that voted in the republican primary (due to being told the Dem one didnt count). They changed their stance on who could revote, from the original rules used in January. This is why Obama did not agree to it, as he should not have. If they were going to have a revote, they should have used the same rules as in January. There are many of us independents that would vote for Obama.

I'm sorry but what don't some of you Dems understand about how this whole FL and MI thing went down.

Nothing underhanded happened. No one arbitrarily punished those two states.

MI and FL knew the rules. They were warned about what would happen. They did it anyway. The knowingly broke the rules.

Clinton, Obama, and Edwards all signed a pledge stating that they would neither campaign NOR PARTICIPATE in elections in those states if they broke the rules.

Now you want them to change all of that? What is to keep a bunch of states from doing the same next year? What is the point of rules if they aren't really rules?

Obama'a Campaign team for strategic reason because all there interested in winning at all cost, have stalled until the DNC has stated that therr is no more time. This is again a sad day in America. If anyone has the chance please view the new movie "RECOUNT" staring Kevin Spacek. This movie recounts the 2000 election debacle. And it is happening again but not only in Florida this time but also in Michigan.

There now will be a cloud over the nomination of Obama's nomination. They should have re-run the Primaries in these 2 states to ensure that all votes were cast and counted reflecting the will of the people in oour 50 states and territories.

No surprise there!
I have to admit that McBush's health report is pretty impressive for a 70+ year old. But I wonder if McBush can stay healthy after a couple of years in the white house… Did anyone see how badly Clinton aged over his term? He looks older than Carter!

We cannot have a continuity of the Bush era with McCain, neither can we risk our futures by entrusting our nation in the hands of an unexperienced candidate

That is a fact that is pretty obvious. Even with his gruelling schedule and sleep deprivation, he still shows how much energy he possesses. Unlike the other two candidates who are showing signs of fatigue and unrest. One can't get out of his own way and the other is hallucinating. Your good health and energy will carry you to the convention Barack. It will all be over soon.

Was there really ever any concern? I know that Obama has quit a bad habit to run (MIchelle said run for the presidency? Then quit smoking). The only reason it was mentioned was because McCain did so because of the age and previously reported health concerns.

Who gives a crap about his health. I am more worried about his plans for my country. What is his hope and change. Will it benefit my country? I have serious doubts and he does nothing to calm those fears.

I will take a sick and old McCain over a young and healthy know nothing politician anytime. At least I know that he loves America from day one.

Barack is releasing his medical report to the public!
John McCain releases his for 3 hours, before a holiday weekend, no internet, camera's in the room that they were released in with limited press there. Oh yeah, McCain's medical records was over 300 pages and was only between 2001 to 2008. With 300 pages for 8 years! Did they piece this guy together…McFrankenstein!

Family history is important in determining risk of heart disease. Senator McCain's father (John McCain Jr.) died at the age of 70 of heart disease and his grandfather (John McCain Sr.) died of a heart attack at the age of 61. Add to that the fact that Senator McCain was a two-pack a day smoker for many years and you have to hope he picks a highly qualified vice-presidential candidate.

WAKE UP AMERICA!   May 29th, 2008 1:02 pm ET

Of course he is good health…he has been feeding off of the lifeblood of his opponets ever since the beginning of his political career. Has any read the headlines today? Have you read how Obama has dishonourably muscled his way into his position? Obama challenged his opponents' petitions and forced them off the ballot while running in Chcago. If somebodys signature was 'printed' and not 'written', it was dismissed. This is just one example of how he uses dirty tricks to try and force his competition out so voters have no real choice! You can take a man outta Chicago, but ya can't take Chicago outta the man. He will do ANYTHING to win. He's a snake oil salesman GET RID OF HIM while you can!

It doesn't surprise me that Obama's Dr. David Scheiner's report finds him in excellent physical and mental health. I don't think Obama would take on the responsibility of running for president knowing his health was questionable because the American people deserve better. I'm 65 years old and wish I could jog one mile a day, however I recognize the younger you are the more physically and mentally fit one is, I don't try to make a fool out of myself.

this is about as surprising as what's in mcclellan's book.

healthy and young vs. old and wont release his full medical records!

mcbush doesnt support the troops! his weak and pathetic GI bill is unnacceptable, inadequate, and insulting.

a vote for mcsame is a vote for NOT supporting our troops. he'll let them fight his wars and BOMB BOMB BOMB iran, but he wont give them GOOD health care, mortgage relief, college tuition. and then he insults us all by agreeing with his loser BFF bush that to give them GOOD benefits that they have EARNED, will make them all leave the military. MORE PROOF OF HOW LITTLE MCCAIN KNOWS ABOUT OR REPSECTS OUR TROOPS!!! these men and women go back 2, 3, 4 times NOT becuase they believe in this farce of a "war", but because they cant stand to leave behind their buddies who are stuck in that ghastly war.

shame on you mccain, and shame on anyone who would vote for him! your lapel pins and car magnets dont fool us!!!!

Hillary Dems for McCain   May 29th, 2008 12:26 pm ET

I bet he is still smoking….

Has anyone checked out the article on this site that talks about how Obama won his Senate race? Obama ran out all his competition so he would run unopposed in the Democratic Primary in IL.

Is this the different kind of politics Obama supporters have been talking about?

At least Hillary has dignity. Obama is the do or say anything candidate, he's just sneaky. Well, not sure if he is sneaky, but these liberal news stations just don't make it a headline.

McCain 08

Ross, Brooklyn, NY   May 29th, 2008 12:25 pm ET

Jan from Boca Raton, Fl   May 29th, 2008 12:25 pm ET

DOES THAT INCLUDE HIS MENTAL HEALTH????

JB   May 29th, 2008 12:25 pm ET

So, obviously the newest tactic by the unscrupulous Hillary supporters:

Claim that Obama can't win the general election, or that he is the weaker candidate.

How do you figure? You aren't fooling anyone. He has gotten more popular vote, more pledged delegates and more superdelegates. Those are the facts. Hillary's fangled math doesn't cut it.

He has won more states in the primary, however, you cannot use the experiences of the primary to predict what is going to happen in the general election.

The idea of the primary, two people run against each other from the same party. The winner goes on to the general election to face the oter party.

Hillary wants you to completely discount what has happened in the Primary. Then why do we have primaries?

And her supporters get mad when people call her a liar, or someone who doesn't want to play by the rules. If it walks like a duck, talks like a duck. . . . . .

Perry   May 29th, 2008 12:24 pm ET
