KATHMANDU, Nepal (AP) -- Police say a bus veered off a mountain road and plunged in a river in central Nepal killing 14 passengers while several more are reported missing.

Police official Ramji Dantel says the bus fell into the river just after midnight Saturday in the Khare Khola, about 100 miles (160 kilometers) west of the capital, Katmandu.

Police and soldiers are searching the river for the bodies but flooding by monsoon rain is making their work difficult.

Another 29 people injured in the accident have been taken to hospital.
