(CNN) -- Brazilian confederation officials have hit out at Real Madrid after the Spanish giants requested the release of Chelsea target Robinho from the squad for the Olympic Games.

Madrid asked for the release of Robinho after a medical examination showed the forward had a groin injury.
The confederation said it was "unhappy" with the decision not only because of the problems created to the national team's planning but also because it considered the announcement "a disrespect to the entity, to football and to Brazilian fans."
Madrid asked for the release of Robinho after a medical examination showed the forward had a groin injury, the club said Monday.
"Real Madrid have contacted the Brazilian FA via fax, explaining the injury and requesting the player's absence from the national squad list for the Olympic Games," the club said in a statement on its Web site Monday.
The Spanish powerhouse said the injury was discovered when the player turned up for a medical examination and light training along with most of the club's squad.
"It was then that Real Madrid doctors diagnosed a groin injury. The club understands the best thing for the player is to complete preseason training with the squad where he will be given rehabilitation tailored to his injury and where he will be under constant supervision," the club said.
The 24-year-old forward said he was disappointed about having to miss the Beijing Games.
"Unhappily, I can't go with Brazil to the games, but it is Real Madrid's decision and I respect it," Robinho said.
Robinho had not joined Madrid for a preseason camp in Algarve, Portugal, as he was preparing to join Brazil for the Olympics. On Monday, however, he flew with the Spanish champions to Graz in Austria prior to a training period at Irdning.
Earlier on Monday Chelsea's chief executive Peter Kenyon admitted that discussions were continuing with Real Madrid about Robinho.
"It is well noted we have shown interest. We have had discussions with Madrid over it and they are ongoing. The window is still open and we are still talking to Madrid," Kenyon said.
Chelsea's tour starts with a match against Guangzhou Pharmaceutical on Wednesday, before matches in Macau, Malaysia and Russia.
AC Milan, meanwhile, moved to end speculation that Brazilian midfielder Kaka is up for sale and Chelsea have denied making a world record bid for the player.
"Kaka is absolutely not for sale," Milan's communications director Vittorio Mentana said in a statement on the club's Web site.
Kaka's spokesman Diogo Kotscho had said in Sao Paolo that negotiations were continuing between Milan and Chelsea for the FIFA player of the year.
"Yes, they are negotiating," Kotscho told The Associated Press. "Chelsea has made a formal proposal to Milan for Kaka."
On Monday Chelsea's chief executive Peter Kenyon insisted that the London club had not made a bid.
"There was no offer made. I have read the same articles.
" They have made it clear that he is not for sale and we will make it clear we have not made an offer," Kenyon said in Guangzhou, China, where Chelsea are on tour.
"There is no reason to negotiate over something they don't want to do and we have not made an offer."
